Another Crazy Week

My mom had her annual Halloween Party. She is so good to the grandkids. She does so much for everyone and we love her for everything! She is amazing! Check out all the grandkids- she has 14 right now with 2 more on the way (2 are not in the picture). Last Christmas she spoiled each and every one of them not just on Christmas morning but with the 12 Days of Christmas leading up to it. What a wonderful Grandma!

Max wanted to be a pirate but I was not very motivated in finding a costume. Luckily, Kings came through with this piece of polyester magic. Of course Max has not taken it off and it is nearly in tatters already, which will be fine as a pirate. I just hope I can tear it away from him once Halloween is over. He wore his Batman costume up until June of this year when it "mysteriously" disappeared.

This week Max also started wrestling. Monica tipped me off to this new athletic endeavor. Max technically shouldn't start until next year but Coach Swensen said that I could bring him out (it is great having MC connections- one of the perks of my job). It was the cutest thing ever. I wasn't sure how it would go but he learned a lot in just one night. There was a meet on Saturday but we decided he could use a bit more practice (his first instinct is to punch the other kids rather than wrestle but he is getting there).

I didn't really buy a costume for Klein but threw together this ballerina outfit at the last minute. The skirt is actually a darling tulle number from Old Navy that she can wear when Halloween is over. I put on her Baby Legs legwarmers and found some cute silver ballet slippers. She looks too grown up in this picture. She is an angel. She is always so happy and sleeps through the night. She fell asleep before 5:00 the other night and slept until 5:30! I had to keep going into her room to make sure she was okay. I finally moved her into the crib for good. The bassinet was just getting too small although I prefer having her close. The other picture I took of her last Sunday- she looks so serious. It was probably because she was wearing tights- I hate them too! It is hard when cold weather comes to find something suitable for church because I avoid tights, nylons, and anything of that persuasion at all costs. However, Ugg knockoffs are not very suitable for Sunday- oh the joys of being a girl!

Zoo Day

We trekked down to the zoo on Friday. Not the best choice of days... it was much to crowded for my liking. Max, however, had a blast. He gets very excited over everything. His favorite animal of the day was the Rhino (or rhino- saurus as he calls it). Klein was an angel and slept the whole time. Jill and Rhett and Macklee came, as well as my mom, and Marshall and Ashlyn. The weather was fabulous although I prefer fall just a bit cooler. Overall it has been a great UEA weekend- I haven't accomplished anything on my to do list but maybe that is why it has been so good.

For those who love to read...

Jenny, this one's for you!

I have created a website for my AP English course. On that site I have my booklist as well as the AP booklist. I have put a "review" for all the books I read this summer (I have read more but need to find time to finish putting them all on the site... someday (sigh)). I love to read! I read every night in the tub, that way I don't feel too guilty about sitting around with a good book. At least when I am reading I can say that it is part of my job. I have piles of books sitting around the house waiting to be read. I can't help but buy numerous books at a time from Amazon.com- spending $25 will get you free shipping. Again- someday I will have time (sigh). If you are ever in my neighborhood and need a book, I have almost as many as a library and love to share.

Anyway, if you are looking for a great book, feel free to check out my list and reviews- hopefully it is helpful to someone! I must say that The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is my current favorite even though the name is very strange. My students were disappointed in my review of Breaking Dawn... I am sorry if you loved that book, I found it extremely pointless and horribly written. If you are looking for a good laugh, read the ludicrous comments made my high school students on the various books we have read in class.

Baby Legs

Here is Klein sporting the latest fashion in baby wear... miniature leg warmers called Baby Legs. They come in all sorts of fun colors. I bought four pairs but now need to find outfits to match.

Weekend in Jackson

Jason and I spent the weekend in Jackson. We wanted to go for our anniversary but also wanted to golf so decided to go early (our anniversary is November 17- 8 years!). Well, winter decided to make an appearance so there was definitely no golfing this time. It was nice to get away but we didn't pick the best weekend. The roads were horrific! It was nice spending some time alone together- it doesn't happen much any more. Thanks mom and Jill for your help with the kids.

Welcome October!

Okay- so I am maybe a little too excited about this blogging thing but I did take the day off from school and wanted to make one last post...

Today I canned salsa, which I am very proud of. I didn't even want to taste it after spending all day with it but when we opened the first jar it was heavenly and HOT, just the way I like it. In fact, we had chips and salsa for dinner. This year I put up strawberry jam, corn, peaches, and salsa. I am feeling very domestic.

We capped off the night with Max FINALLY riding his 4 wheeler. It was his 2006 Christmas gift and he didn't dare ride it when he got it. It has been sitting in the garage and then when he did want to ride it, it had to be fixed. Tonight was his inaugural ride. He made about 20 trips around the house with a permanent smile. Doesn't he look tough? The fact that he isn't wearing a shirt is nothing new- he prefers to show off his tan!

Cousins

Tim and Denise and Sam came to visit us on Sunday and we got a few pictures of the little cousins together. Sam is two months older than Klein.
